Vege Select (formerly Quan Yin Chay)

I actually tried this place many years before they offered their trendy veggie skewers. It was not a satisfying experience, but I can say that they should be thankful that their new products are a hit. There’s usually a long line for the skewers. It’s good that I went here past 7PM so I didn’t have to wait longer than 10 minutes.

The skewers were good and delectable, but still not too tasty as one would expect, given the hype. It’s worth-trying; it’s affordable after all (P120 for three sticks).

I found myself wandering the streets of Ongpin when the rain scattered all the people. I saw my chance to try Vege Select! It’s was a healthy and tasteful snack along my Binondo travels. I enjoyed the barbecue and the Siopao.

Enoki mushroom, tofu, and sticky rice barbecue for 120 pesos (that's 40 pesos per stick). There's a long queuing line outside but that's for the skewers. There are a lot of food selection inside so have time to look into it as well.

so many things to try here! my personal favorite among the skewers is the veggie sausage. the fresh sugar cane juice was refreshing and similar to buko juice. they also have tanghulu which i also recommend. the strawberries are great quality. they also have frozen goods and vegetarian-fied pinoy ulams inside the store. will definitely have to go back and try!

Their vegetarian skewers are definitely an acquired taste but they're not bad by any means. The rice cake, mushroom, and tofu skewers did not exactly wow us.

I don't think it's worth a detour but if you manage to pass by the area, feel free to try them out!
